Bruckheimer Pitching Afghan “Horse” Tale

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been out this week with pitching a film adaptation of Doug Stanton book “Horse Soldiers” says Variety.

The true story revolves around twelve elite special forces soldiers and CIA operatives who secretly invaded Afghanistan after 9/11 and helped rebel fighters capture the city of Mazar-i-Sharif and topple the Taliban.

The project is said to be akin to the Bruckheimer-produced “Black Hawk Down”. Nicolai Fuglsig is attached to direct from a script by Ted Tally and Peter Craig.

Disney bought the rights for Bruckheimer in 2009 but got rid of it to embrace their family film mandate. They also ditched the WW2 project “Killing Rommel” which Bruckheimer has also ultimately given up on.
