Cast Added to Competing “Beast” Pilots

The dueling Beauty and the Beast pilots have added pivotal cast members.

The ABC version which will be a new take on the classic fairy tale has found its Beauty. Irish actress Ruth Bradley has been cast in the lead female role.

The casting makes for an Irish-Scottish pairing in the title roles of the project, a fantasy re-imagining of the classic Beauty and the Beast tale wherein an embattled princess, Grace (Bradley), discovers an unlikely connection with a mysterious beast, Shiro (Scottish singer-actor Darius Campbell), a mercenary bodyguard

Meanwhile, the CW reboot of the 80′s series has found its beast.

Actor Jay Ryan will play the new version of Vincent in the pilot.

Loosely based on the 1980s CBS series, CW’s Beauty And The Beast is described as a modern-day romantic love story with a procedural twist.? It centers on Catherine (Kristen Kreuk), a tough-minded NYPD homicide detective haunted by witnessing her mother’s murder nine years ago and the killers’ quick demise at the hands of a Beast. After years of searching, Catherine finally finds the Beast, Vincent Koslow (Ryan), the survivor of a military experiment that went disastrously wrong, and becomes the protector of his secret life as a superhero.
