Captain America: The First Avenger REVIEW

No one makes a more sympathetic hero than a 98-pound weak kid that is bullied, orphaned and asthmatic. Behind that sunk-in chest beats the heart of a lion.

Steve Rogers (Chris Evans)  is the strapping wartime Nazi hunter in the sturdy-framed “Captain America: The First Avenger,” the latest in this year’s long line of super heroes. What distinguishes Captain America  is his humble backstory,  a kid from Brooklyn who just wants to fight for freedom.

Steve tries to enlist five time, but is rejected each time. Then he catches the eye of Dr. Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci). Erskine is a gentle German scientist, now working for the Americans, with an awesome new serum that can turn a small-fry like Steve into Captain America. After being misused by the government to sell war bonds and star in movie shorts, Captain America will fight this particular movie’s villain: Johann Schmidt aka The Red Skull  (Hugo Weaving), a Nazi that wants to destroy the world starting with Captain America’s home, New York.

Captain America was a very interesting movie. At times I was thinking that the producers had lost their mind with all the song and dance performances that were performed by Captain America. It was a little cheezy to say the least. Overall, this movie was pretty amazing–Full of action and suspense. The movie ended in an way that you just didn’t see coming. **** SPOILER ALERT**** Captain apparently was in a coma-state for over 70 years and wakes up to see none other than Samuel Jackson. He’s told that he is need for a much bigger purpose that leads into The Avengers 2012.

I’m disappointed in the fact that there can’t be another Captain America with the cast they have in this one. If he wakes up 70 years later, the whole cast has to be taken away. The movie ends with Captain saying that he had a date which I find dumb. I simply think they could have made more than this one Captain America and it seems as if they kind of folded their hand with the advancement in time and the whole Avengers trailer after the movie. Granted Avengers looks amazing and will have Captain America, Thor and Iron Man to name a few.

I thought overall this was a great movie. I highly recommend that you go see it soon.

The Green Hornet review

This is a film adaptation of the Green Hornet tv show that aired in 1966 to 1967.The Green Hornet character however dates all the way back to 1936 making a presence in radio shows and comic books.

Rated PG-13.Directed by Michel Gondry.Written by Seth Rogan,Evan Goldberg.Cast of stars include Seth Rogan,Jay Chou,Cameron Diaz,Tom Wilkinson and Christoph Waltz.Run time is 1 hour 59 minutes.

Seth Rogan plays the role of Britt Reid,a cocky rich guy who ultimately becomes the Green Hornet.Jay Chou plays the role of Kato,a mechanical genius and martial arts expert. The two unlikely pair team up to be form the sometime comical and uneven team.

I found this to be an enjoyable movie, some parts could have been left on the cutting room floor but for the most part it was a decent movie. The cars and gadgets were pretty cool even inducing some wow factors. This is certainly not a film to take to seriously and has many funny moments.

This movie was worth the time I spent watching it,parts in the middle did drag a bit but the movie still hit a mark for me.Funny and and cool I found it to be well worth the rent.My rating system is from 1 to 5.

I rate The Green Hornet a 3.90
